diy | leap day outfit {or saint patties day}

today is leap day. today is also my brother-in-law's birthday! so happy birthday, chris! at school, madison was required to wear green for her "leap frog" day party at school. they had so much fun all in their matching green, it was so cute seeing them all together in green. thanks to my sister katie from avery & anderson for giving me a heads up on this tutorial from dana made it. easy fabric dyeing. so cute. i love how adorable this simple t-shirt turned out and mostly that the threading stayed white. thanks katie for sharing! madison & i also painting wooden balls light green together, which turned into an adorable necklace. i must admit she looked adorably perfect today for her leap frog day party and the best thing, she can re-wear it on st. patty's day! so if you want this little outfit for your kiddo, you can do it for st. patrick's day in a couple weeks. loved her little smile today.

diy | business card holder

i just got a re-shipment of my business cards. i used a real simple design and ordered tons of them but needed something cute to put them in, so i followed this tutorial to make a fabric diy business card holder. something cute that i can just keep in my purse or camera bag. i am always running into people at weddings asking for my business card so now i have something adorable to pull out that really shows my creative side. i just used scrap fabric but would really like to buy fabric in the color scheme of my brand and make a different one. but, this will do great for now, and is even perfect for those nights out when i just need my id or debit card. too cute!

dinner @ eight | sweetheart

i have been waiting to post our dinner at eight so i could link up over at a bit of sunshine for the theme of february, which is sweetheart. i knew husband would be working the closing shift the week of valentine's day, so we did our date night a week earlier when he worked a day shift. it was my first dinner at eight--and i was very excited because i feel like it's been forever since hubby & i have had a date night. i was sort of looking forward to a night in where we could eat a yummy dinner, have a couple drinks, and watch a movie. while i cooked dinner, hubby bathed and put madison to sleep and just in time- 8 o'clock rolled around. we had tacos (hubby loves tacos) with chips and salsa. it was just wonderful to spend time together because i think sometimes we forget to enjoy that time together.

here we go--so i shaped the black beans and taco's into a heart, for the sweetheart. i also decorated the chalkboard with our menu and plans for after. hubby was so excited that i picked up some of his favorite beer, molson and we couldn't wait to snuggle on the couch with our favorite quilt, my grandmother made it for us for our wedding. it's amazingly soft and we always snuggle with it. i know i could have made this dinner at eight more special, planning more ahead of time, but it was just perfect for us.

as we all know how busy life gets-- i forgot about dinner at eight, didn't pick up everything i wanted to make the night special, forgot to make the heart banner in time, etc--but enjoying some husband time made me remember how important it is to step back from our busy schedules and just enjoy each other. i am so blessed for my husband. he has so much love and patience and today is the perfect day to appreciate that. you should plan a date night for your hubby and post your dinner at eight over at rebekah's blog, a bit of sunshine.

happy heart day

5 years ago today, on valentine's day-- a boy asked a girl to marry him. she said yes. and they lived happily ever after. i will never forget that day. such joy in both of our eyes. i love you babe. thank you for 5 amazing valentine's days. i spent the day with my husband. tonight, i spend my valentine's day with my little valentine, madison while hubby works. luckily little valentine brought home lots of chocolate to enjoy ;) and she even made me a valentine card, so lucky. i'm lucky to have my husband. i've eating way too many conversation hearts & i love these two people so much so, happy heart day!
